Job description

The Workplace as a Service (WaaS) Design Team in the CIO is looking for an experienced Visual / UX Designer to support a range of highly visible mobile iOS applications. Project work involves designing high quality visual interfaces for native mobile apps, prototyping, and delivering assets based on platform. The Visual Designer will work collaboratively with a team of designers, developers, and user experience professionals to advocate for user-centered design, mobile innovation, and to create visual treatments that bring to life the project vision and creative approach.

What you’ll do:

  • Create modern, visually engaging, and innovative mobile products
  • Design based on requirements and user data; delivering concepts to demonstrate potential solutions
  • Iteratively improve design concepts and prototypes based on team and user feedback
  • Ensure that a consistent design language is applied across the product
  • Define UI patterns that unify, improve, and elevate the user experience of our native applications across multiple products and platforms
  • Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice
  • Work on a community oriented design team that encourages learning and professional growth
  • Work in a fast paced environment with agile teams
  • Work closely with development teams by delivering production-ready assets, visual specifications, and providing support through implementation

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree with a Visual/Communication Design, Graphic Design or Multimedia focus
  • Be highly skilled in the Adobe Suite, Keynote, Sketch, and other design tools
  • Have a strong understanding of iOS UI patterns and guidelines
  • Have a solid understanding of technical concepts and constraints
  • Have deep knowledge of user-centered design principles and design thinking
  • Be open-minded, collaborative, and communicative
  • Be committed to lifelong design learning
  • Be able to take direction and constructive critiques well
  • Be an independent self-starter with the ability to manage deadlines for simultaneous projects, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Have experience designing mobile products in the enterprise space

Applicants must provide a portfolio of previous projects and work products produced, showcasing iOS experience. Role will require working in Somers, North Castle, and/or NYC.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 2 years’ experience in iOS design
  • Demonstrated experience in designing native iOS apps
  • Exposure to designing mobile apps in accordance with iOS style guides, design language, and app kits
  • Demonstrated communication skills in a customer facing environment
  • A minimum of 5 plus years of experience in UI/UX/Visual design

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree – Visual/Communication Design, Graphic Design, or User Experience Design focus
  • Master's Degree
  • 2+ years’ experience in designing native mobile apps (iOS & Android)
  • 3 +years’ experience in the following:
  • designing, developing and delivering interactive iOS applications for clients
  • ability to manage multiple projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions, while maintaining attention to detail
  • working with teams of technical, information architecture and rich internet architects
  • fluent in Adobe Suite, Keynote, Sketch, Zeplin, InVision , iOS design guides/language/kits, and other design tools
  • solid understanding of technical concepts and constraints on the iOS platform
